Organic Feed

The National Organic Program rules are very specific about what is and isn't allowed in organic livestock feeds. Grains and other agricultural products in your feeding program must have been grown organically. Some nonsynthetic, naturally occurring substances such as enzymes may be added, and even some approved synthetic substances. However, organic feeds may contain no genetically modified grain or grain products, no antibiotics, hormones or drugs, no animal by-products.... You'll definitely need to read up on the requirements for organic feeds. The resources in this section give you access to information on those requirements, advice on how to meet the challenges of feeding organically, documentation and records required, suggested diets, and how-to articles on producing and processing livestock feed. For links to organic feed suppliers, go to the animal feed and supplements area of the Pathway's Supplies & Services section.
